Mama Sita's Palabok Mix is a convenient Filipino seasoning and gravy mix specially made for preparing Pancit Palabok, the classic Filipino rice noodle dish topped with a rich, savoury orange-coloured sauce.
Made with corn starch, rice flour, garlic, achuete (annatto), black pepper and selected seasonings, this mix creates the thick, flavourful sauce that gives Pancit Palabok its distinctive appearance and taste.
Simply dissolve the mix in water or stock, cook until thickened, then pour over cooked rice noodles. Complete your Palabok with traditional toppings such as shrimp, boiled eggs, fried garlic, spring onions, smoked fish flakes, chicharon and calamansi.
Ingredients
Corn starch, rice flour, salt, garlic powder, cane sugar, flavour enhancer E621 (monosodium glutamate), achuete/annatto powder-corn starch mix, shrimp flavouring, black pepper, flavour enhancers E631 (disodium inosinate) and E627 (disodium guanylate).
Important: European formulations vary. Some current batches list hydrolysed corn and SOYA protein instead of shrimp flavouring. Always use the ingredient declaration on the physical package as the final reference.
